The passing of John Madden, a Pro Football Hall of Famer, shocked the entire sports world on Tuesday. A number of basketball players and the NBA world joined the NFL community in mourning the loss of such an eminent personality. Despite Madden’s retirement from the world of football commentary in 2009, his legacy and impact on the NFL never waned during his career, both as a coach and as a player. LeBron James, who grew up playing the Madden franchise, shared a short but impactful message on Twitter as a tribute to Madden.

Madden was one of the great names in football, whether it was as a coach for the Oakland Raiders or as a commentator for the NFL. His name also appears in several games focused on the sport.
It was indeed shocking news for the entire sports community as many came forward to pay tribute to him. According to a statement issued by the NFL, he died unexpectedly on Tuesday morning. No cause of death has been determined.
