The Boston Celtics have made their mark in the NBA Finals after a remarkable win in Game 1. Following the heroics of Al Horford against the Golden State Warriors, Ime Udoka and his men drew first blood. Despite being down big going into the fourth, Udoka kept Boston in the game.

Being under the most successful coach, Gregg Popovich seems to be paying off for him and the Celtics. After his impressive feat of making it to the NBA Finals, Pop had a few words of appreciation for Udoka.

When it comes to dynasties, one that isn’t talked about enough is the San Antonio Spurs. Led by legends such as Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, and Manu Ginobili, they dominated the NBA under the reign of Gregg Popovich. This team is one of the biggest reasons LeBron has only four championships under his belt.

They torched him during his days with the Cleveland Cavaliers as well as the Miami Heat. With a record of 5-11 against them in three finals, the King did not want to see this team as his opponents.

In addition, it looks like Pop has transferred his teachings to Udoka, who served as an assistant coach under him for seven years. Likewise, after he made the finals with the Celtics, Gregg Popovich had to congratulate him.

The Celtics had one of the most impressive runs late in the regular season this year. Jumping into the second seed, they quickly asserted themselves as serious contenders. And come playoff time, the Celtics did not let go of their momentum. Fending off opponents such as the defending champions, Milwaukee Bucks, and even the top-seeded Miami Heat, they made it to the NBA Finals. With Stephen Curry and the Warriors eyeing their 4th championship, the Celtics had other plans.

Udoka went on to reveal that his mentor, Gregg Popovich was delighted to see him make the NBA Finals. He left him a nice voicemail to address Udoka’s impressive feat. And the Celtics coach did not disappoint in his first game in the NBA Finals.

The Celtics were down and out in Game 1. The Warriors took their sweet spot, in the third quarter and shredded the Celtics in that time. Going off on a 38-24 run, Boston was down big time. However, Udoka remained calm. He got his forces together and made the right plays.

Likewise, the Celtics looked like a team made for the pressure. Hunting down the Warriors in the one quarter they had, the Celtics pulled off n emphatic comeback over the Warriors.

With a 1-0 lead in the NBA Finals, Udoka and the Celtics will sleep well tonight. Winning on the road is the most crucial part of the playoffs, and Boston managed to do it right off the bat.
