LeBron James is in the twilight years of his NBA career. The next season will be his 20th in the league but he doesn’t seem interested in retirement yet. He has said many times that he dreams of playing with his eldest son, LeBron James Jr. a.k.a. Bronny James. Bronny is currently in high school but should be eligible for the NBA draft in 2024.

LeBron posted a story of his son on his Instagram showing Bronny getting buckets. Bronny, playing for the North Coast Blue Chips, made step-back threes and drove to the basket which was reminiscent of his father. As always, the eyes of the basketball community were on him, and his team won in a convincing fashion.

A clip from the game where Bronny is seen blocking an opponent also went viral. Much like how his father made a name for himself by chasing opponents down and blocking them, Bronny can be seen doing the same.

While it is in no way a guarantee that Bronny will end up in the NBA, a father can only hope. LeBron James mentioned in an interview back at the 2022 All-Star weekend, “My last year will be played with my son”.
He said he didn’t care where Bronny would be playing. He will happily accept any kind of contract as at that point, it won’t be about the money for ‘the King’.

If LeBron James gets to play with his son in the NBA, it will mark a historic moment
If the James’ do get to play together, it will mark a historic moment in not just basketball history, but in sports in general. In the NBA, there have been no father-son duos who have played together at the same time. This achievement will add another feather to the cap of the legendary career of LeBron James.

Bronny has the tools to make it to the NBA. He is 6’3″ and can play as a guard. His shooting seems much smoother than that of his father. Scouts have also said that he has the “feel for the game” and makes the right play more often than not.
