LeBron James Gets Emotional As NBA Champion Draymond Green Receives Much Deserved Hall Of Fame Induction From His Alma Mater

Draymond Green is well accustomed to success, and now he can add another accolade to his stellar basketball resume. The Golden State Warriors forward will highlight the 2022 Michigan State Athletics Hall of Fame Class. The former DPOY unveiled his latest honor on his podcast and said he got chills when he got the news.

Green starred for Michigan State for four years which saw him become the school’s leading rebounder. The Hall of Fame induction, however, is not his first honor from his alma mater. He also witnessed his jersey number 23 getting retired and going up to the rafters in December 2019. The forward was also an All-American in 2012, his last year with Michigan State.

Green has adopted the practice of stockpiling silverware since then. He has won four NBA championships with the Warriors. He has four All-Star appearances and took home the NBA Defensive Player of the Year in 2017.

While Draymond Green was savoring this momentous honor, someone else couldn’t help but be thrilled about his achievement. LeBron James took it to Twitter to congratulate his friend. The two may not have had the smoothest start to their relationship. However, they have grown to be extremely close friends over time.

Draymond Green will be on Cloud 9 because of his latest honor. And LeBron James, who himself is no stranger to success, is extremely happy for his buddy. The two share a special bond now and James even congratulated Green on winning his fourth title.

LeBron James and Draymond Green have had their moments on the court, but mutual respect has deepened

LeBron James has encountered the Warriors in the NBA Finals multiple times. And it’s a fact that his negative Finals record is partly attributable to them.

Draymond Green is the heart and soul of the Dubs. His glue guy mentality and swiss army knife game are essential for them and have significantly contributed to the Warriors becoming a dynasty. However, his hunger to win is what has turned him into a workhorse. That passion, though, may occasionally cause him to get physical in the heat of the ballgame.

James has been on the receiving end of that physicality several times, with Green once kicking The King in the crotch. Therefore, the two appeared to have had a bitter rivalry during those years.

However, the energy has shifted since then, and the two have formed a strong bond. The mutual respect between them has gotten stronger over the years.

Both athletes were also spotted celebrating the 4th of July with one another. They called out their doubters as they exclaimed, “They didn’t believe in us, God did!”

Their close friendship, however, does not imply that they will be easy on each other on the court. They’ll be prepared to take each other’s heads off.
