Skip Bayless is one of the most renowned and celebrated analysts. Often openly critical of various players and teams, he is never afraid to make statements or predictions about them. His critique often catches LeBron James’ fans’ attention and why not? Criticizing LeBron James is his favorite past-time, as many think. This leads to him being called ‘LeBron Hater’ as well.

But this time, it’s not LeBron who is being criticized but his teammate. He recently took shots at former MVP Russell Westbrook, while praising the sacrifice made by James Harden.

Criticism of Russell Westbrook while James Harden gets the praise

Skip Bayless, on his show ‘Skip and Shannon: Undisputed’, once again took a dig at LeBron James and his Lakers team indirectly. He criticized Westbrook while praising Harden, saying “James harden did something that Russell Westbrook is incapable of doing.”

“He says, you know what? I owe this team because I cost this team last year and I’ve cost myself and my reputation over the last two years, so it is time for me to make a sacrifice. It is a steep sacrifice, it is $14 million. He just said I am willing to sacrifice for the good of this team.”

Now that is a huge bite at ‘Russ.’ Struggling with his form lately, he’s also reportedly been a part of many trade talks. Russell Westbrook averaged 18.5 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 7.1 assists in 78 games in 2021-22. For a normal player, that’s an amazing season! But, when you’re a former MVP and a 9 time All-NBA player, the expectations are sure running high from you.

The game of numbers

Russell Westbrook is set to earn $44.4 Million this year, which is higher than even LeBron James and Anthony Davis. Meanwhile, James Harden is to earn $33 Million after a $14 million cut from his original $47 million salary. That is definitely commendable but also harmful for Westbrook.
