NBA superstar LeBron James finally broke his silence on the Brittney Griner situation. After being compared to her by many critics and many asking him to speak up, he broke his silence on the situation on his show ‘The Shop’. But he also seems to have given a clear explanation of his comments, which were taken out of context by a few.

LeBron was talking about Griner on his show. Griner had been detained in Russia for over 100 days and despite efforts to bring her back, nothing has been accomplished so far. Many WNBA players and NBA players have come out in support of Griner and have asked the government to get her back. The US government has tried their best, but have been unable to proceed any further.

And when LeBron was asked about it, he didn’t hold back. In a small trailer of the show, LeBron was vocal about the situation. He said, “Now, how can she feel like America has her back? I would be feeling like, ‘Do I even wanna go back to America?’”

The full clip is not yet known as the show primers on Friday. But LeBron was criticized for his comments.

LeBron James says he loves America in a clarification to his earlier comments

‘King James’ who has been taking some slack for his comments, came out on Twitter to clarify his thoughts. He said, “My comments on “The Shop” regarding Brittney Griner wasn’t knocking our beautiful country. I was simply saying how she’s probably feeling emotionally along with so many other emotions, thoughts, etc inside that cage she’s been in for over 100+ days! Long story short #BringHerHome.”

LeBron has been very vocal on issues that matter to him and this is no different. But he made sure that he clarified what he actually meant. He did not want to cause controversy with his comments.

Griner is one of the best WNBA players out there and her arrest has led to wide protests against the Russian Government. Many politicians and celebrities have come out in support of her. But that seems to be of no use as Griner is still stuck in a cell far away from her home. It will be interesting to see what will this lead to.
