Stephen Curry, who is a generational talent, was only drafted seventh overall in the 2009 NBA draft. It will probably be the greatest robbery in an NBA draft that the Golden State Warriors pulled off. It is scary to believe that two guards were drafted before Curry. Steph played at Davidson and was not highly recruited out of college and played for the wildcats at Davidson.

The scouts and media were hating on Curry even before he played a single NBA game. LeBron James, however, had a keen eye for his potential and even went to one of his college games. Curry took Davidson to the elite eight, which is their best finish in decades of playing collegiate basketball. He has spent his entire career proving haters and the media wrong. Steph has gone from being an underdog to the greatest shooter the NBA has ever seen.

In 2008, as Curry was preparing to enter the draft, but the scouts were obliterating him in their reports. A leaked analysis of Curry’s scouting report recently saw the light of day. The report called him not a true point guard and called his shot selection poor. The report also said that he relied too much on the outside shot and was an erratic player.

It basically said that there was a limited upside to having Curry. LeBron was probably the only one that caught on to Curry’s greatness. Curry recalls how he once saw LeBron at one of his college games.

Curry said, “I was a sophomore in college, and LeBron was coming to my games! I actually still have the jersey he gave me. He signed a jersey for me. I think that was November of my junior year. On my wall at my parents’ house in Charlotte, it’s still there.”

Curry has time after time proved his haters wrong. He recently won his fourth NBA championship for the Golden State Warriors. When Steph won his first NBA Finals MVP, he called out his haters and asked them what they have to say now.

Curry has been one of the most loved and hated players in the NBA. There were times when the media created narratives about his greatness. He got a Finals MVP, which is something that he was called out for. At the beginning of the 2021-22 NBA season, analysts like Kendrick Perkins and Domonique Foxworth were holding the ‘Zero goggles’ on their eyes when asked how many rings will Curry win in the future. Steph proved them all wrong.

Stephen Curry remembered this and kept the receipts. When he won his fourth NBA championship, he held up the goggles and reminded them that he had been an underdog all his life and showed up when the moment called for it.
