There were worries that the Egyptian goal scorer, who had only one season left on his Liverpool contract, may leave the team at the end of the 2022–23 season if he and the club couldn’t agree on a new deal. To the surprise of many, the 30-year-old signed a new three-year deal that will reportedly pay him £350,000 per week.
LeBron James expressed his happiness for Salah on Instagram when it was announced that he would be staying. The new contract will reportedly make Salah the highest-paid player at the club. He arguably deserves it for his recent performances for Liverpool. And Liverpool will likely not regret their decision. Salah is widely regarded as one of the best players in the world and a bonafide Ballon d’Or contender.
Why was LeBron James happy about Salah’s extension?
Mo Salah has flourished since joining Liverpool in 2017, taking home three Premier League Golden Boot trophies. He and Son Heung-min of Tottenham Hotspur shared the league’s top scorer title in 2021–22 with 23 goals each.
