LeBron James Reveals Bitter Truth About Consequences of Gender Pay Gap in the NBA

One of the biggest issues concerning the world currently is the gender pay gap in almost every field. Unfortunately, it is the same in the NBA. Despite the rising popularity of the WNBA, women players receive less salary when compared to their male counterparts. Talking in an interview, one of the biggest stars of the NBA, LeBron James, gave his views.

There is a growing trend in the WNBA where players go elsewhere to earn more during the offseason. According to King James, women players who go abroad to earn more money hesitate to come back to the country owing to the sad state of equality.

LeBron James drops truth bomb on the pay gap

There is no denying LeBron James is one of the greatest athletes ever. Apart from what he does on the basketball court, his stance on topics that need recognition makes him greater.

James is known for his charity initiatives and ventures on issues that cripple society. In a recent talk show, LeBron gave his views regarding the pay gap that exists in the sport of basketball.

Top WNBA player Brittney Griner made headlines by spending the off-season in Russia, where she made four times the salary she normally receives! Throwing further light on the topic, WNBA star A’Ja Wilson talked about how players go abroad in order to provide for their families.

Speaking about the same, Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James had an interesting take. He said, “Unfortunately, some of them, they go over there and won’t come back. They’re like, “I miss everything that they have in America, but like, this pay raise over here, I’m not coming back over to this sh*t. “”

Although the league has agreed to raise the average up to $130,000 and the top players over $500,000 by 2027, this is still nothing close to what the foreign leagues offer.

Leagues in countries like Turkey, China, and Russia attract players every season play in their league. And Brittney Griner is just one of the countless others who have gone elsewhere in search of better pay.
