Among his numerous charitable donations are After-School All-Stars, Muhammad Ali: A Force For Change, Boys and Girls Club of America, Children’s Defense Fund, and ONEXONE.

In a story on Instagram, James praised a teenager from Edmonton named Anthony Muobike. He not only expressed his admiration for Muobike but appreciated the entire community for coming forward and supporting the young man’s dream.

“This is pure and beautiful,” James wrote on Instagram. “That community is amazing. Nobody can fulfill their dreams alone. Anthony, keep working kid. You have another fan in me.”

A 14-year-old boy was always seen practicing basketball outside his house for hours. People noticed that he didn’t have a basketball hoop in his driveway. He received a $750 gift card from Sport Chek after one of his neighbors, Ian Ray, noticed and posted on Facebook on August 15, asking for donations for his ball and hoop. 

The teenager reacted to the gift by saying:

“I was absolutely surprised,” he told CTV News. “I thought when I came out here to dribble that ball it was making a racket and people would hate it. To find out, I don’t know how many, probably a lot, of people are believing in me and they give me this […] that really touches my heart.”

Muobike’s mother was emotional at the help and love that her son received. She told the media that she is very emotional and struggling to process what happened, but she thanked the people who helped her kid.
