Ex-NBA player Kendall Gill recalls how he paid the price for insulting Michael Jordan

Now aged 53, Kendall Gill is a former guard-forward himself. In his career, he averaged 13.4 points across 15 seasons. Way back in 1998, ‘KG’ was at the peak of his career. When the Nets took on Jordan’s Bulls, Gill managed to score past his counterpart in fine style.

However, his next move ended up costing him dearly. Trying to get an upper hand on Michael, the powerhouse player attempted to trash talk the 14-time All-Star. But things didn’t end well for him.

Later on in the game, ‘His Airness’ returned the debt with a thunderous dunk. Reminiscing the incident, Gill said, “So later on in that game, and I’m sure you’ve seen this play, he stole the ball and I tried to run him down and he dunked the basketball and they call the foul.”

However, this wasn’t all. So he goes to the free-throw line and I’m lined up and he goes, ‘Hey KG, payback is bit*h, huh?’ I didn’t say anything but I was pissed off inside because that guy just dunked on me on national TV in front of my family, everybody in the UC (United Center).”
