It’s an exciting time for music lovers, especially hip-hop fans. The 2023 Grammy Awards took place on Sunday with exciting performances from artists of various genres. A performance by numerous artists honoring 50 years of hip-hop culture caught the attention of Grammy viewers today. Lil Baby, Busta Rhymes, Queen Latifah, Method Man, Nelly, and many more were among the music stars who paid tribute.

The performance got appreciation from celebrities from different industries. One such mention was from NBA legend and ex-President of the Los Angeles Lakers, Magic Johnson. The five-time NBA champion took to Twitter to shout out to all the artists who performed.

Magic Johnson appreciates LL Cool J and several other artists for their Grammys tribute

Fans also loved the performance and the tribute to hip-hop culture. Famous singer and songwriter LL Cool J, right after introducing the Dr. Dre Impact Award, went off with his tribute performance.

The Lakers legend said, “The old school 50 Years of Hip Hop set stole the show! My boy LL kicked off the performance featuring Big Boi, Busta Rhymes with Spliff Star, De La Soul, DJ Drama, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Missy Elliott, GloRilla, Grandmaster Flash, Grandmaster Mele Mel & Scorpio/Ethiopian King”.

Johnson added another thread to mention the rest of the artists. “Lil Baby, Ice-T, Jadakiss & Styles P, Method Man, Nelly, Public Enemy, Queen Latifah, Rakim, RUN DMC, Salt-N-Pepa, Spinderella, Scarface, Swizz Beatz, and Too $hort!”, giving a shout out to the entire crew who were involved.

Notably, LL Cool J and Johnson have a strong bond. Both stars went on a yachting trip in the summer of 2021 all over the United States. In an interview with Jimmy Kimmel, the rapper shared his thoughts on the trip he went on with Johnson and actor Samuel L. Jackson.
