Los Angeles Lakers are suddenly relying on Dennis Schroder’s offensive caliber. After the Achilles injury of Anthony Davis, the onus came on Dennis to show that he is the most trustworthy third star in the Lake Show.
The 27-YO star did not disappoint his team as his recent play against the Blazers saved them from stretching their losing streak. It seems like he has found a concrete place in the starting five, something he lacked with OKC. However, one question remains, will Dennis sign a contract extension with the Lakers?

Dennis Schroder dropped a major hint
Recently, Silver Screen & Roll posted a Giphy to show how Schroder’s agents are busy counting cash after he missed four games and then came back to give Lakers a W. Just as an NBA Insider shared that tweet on his Insta story, Dennis also shared the same with many smileys. Take a look –
Lmao. Dennis approved of my tweet. If he signs the extension you can thank me. pic.twitter.com/hmIr0Kj069

Now, this is not a cent percent reliable hint, but it at least showed that Dennis liked the idea of his agents counting that cash while he stays with the Lakers.
Plus, he has recently bought a house in LA that further signals something. The Menace is averaging 14.5 points, 3.6 rebs, 4.2 assists, and close to a steal per game at 44.1% FG.
In the absence of Anthony Davis, his importance in the side has only increased as a starter who can play big minutes and impact playmaking.
The complexity in his contract extension with the Lakers
The men in Golden and Purple welcomed Dennis into the squad for various reasons. They overlooked the likes of Chris Paul and DeMar DeRozan to sign the youngster to cement their future with him.
Both Dennis and AD are of the same age, and once Bron’s window closes, these two can lead the Lakers. The 6’1” point guard is great at ball-handling, creating shots, and also has been a Sixth Man of the Year runner-up. So he can stay productive as a starter and also lead the bench when needed.

However, the rising star earlier turned down a two-year $33.4 million extension in December to wait for a bigger offer. The complex provisions in the CBA (Collective Bargaining Agreement) did not allow the Lakers to offer more at that point.
But Dennis Schroder and his agents knew that waiting for a couple of months could see him getting a longer, perhaps five-year (including 2020-21) $98.82 million contract. There was a substantial risk involved in the wait, but Dennis showed he can be a game-winner and now stands a real chance to get a major hike.
