This season, Kevin Durant was on a splendid run with an average of 29.7 points and 5.3 assists per game. But a right MCL sprain stripped him of an opportunity to capitalize on the momentum he had gained. Moments after the injury, which occurred in the game against the Miami Heat, the Brooklyn Nets announced that Durant could possibly miss a month’s worth of games. This meant that he would probably miss the All-Star weekend as well. However, a recent report anticipated Durant’s early return to the court. While these speculations keep the NBA community on their toes, the two-time NBA champion seemingly took credit for the latest development with regards to the All-Star weekend.

The league announced that the draft for the All-Star weekend would take place right before the game. This method would replace the tradition of captains picking a team on-air weeks before the commencement of the weekend. While fans focused on how this would spice things up, Durant rushed to Twitter to claim ownership of the idea.

NBA Twitter makes a demand

The two-time Finals MVP retweeted a clip from his podcast and wrote, “Heard it here first” on Twitter. In the clip, he is heard saying, “It would be fire if we pick right before the game though.” He also suggested that two jerseys could be made for each player. Durant emphasized how great this idea would be. He concluded the discussion by stating that he was giving the league “ideas man…  for free”.

Following this, many NBA fans stated that they loved this idea and loved Durant for possibly suggesting and manifesting it. Some were surprised that Durant “called it” while others wondered if he would get some reward for the idea.
