The Lakers vs Suns game at the Staples Center first saw a dominant Chris Paul and then Devin Booker joined the party. Still looking for their first win of the season, the Lake Show looked more like the Bummer Show as they let it all slip beyond Q1.

The Lakers Nation managed just 41 points to the Valley’s 71 in the mid quarters and that took the game out of reach. So even with a decent comeback in the fourth quarter, they could only come so close to victory.

The Suns defeated the Lakers 115-105 even after going 21-38 in Q4. This meant that the Lakers are a horrifying 0-8 (including preseason) in the 2021-22 season. So even as their young gun in Austin Reaves shined with his consecutive forth quarter threes, it was too late to capitalize on any of that.

On the other hand, the Lakers’ Big Three combined for 62 points but that came at 4/13 (all of LeBron James‘ conversions) from the long range. Russell Westbrook, just one assist short of his triple-double, finally had a 360 degree performance (minus his shooting) with four turnovers. So even in this loss where the Lakers failed inside the paint, there were a few positives for Frank Vogel’s unit.

How did the Phoenix Suns check the Lakers?

The Suns, who had 23 assists in the loss against the Nuggets, combined for 28 with 11 minutes remaining in the decisive quarter. The best part was their strating line-up delivering at an elite level. Their starters added 87 points with Chris Paul & Devin Booker getting 12/12 from the free-throw line.

In the same night, CP3 became the only player in the NBA with 20K points and 10K assists while Devin Booker passed Giannis Antetokounmpo as the sixth leading scorer before turning 25. The highlights of the night became Chris Paul shouldering Malik Monk out for a Jae Crowder assist, helping DeAndre Jordan with an Alley-oop, and then converting a jumper over AD.
