‘Love to See it’: LeBron James Reacts to St. Vincent – St. Mary’ Malaki Branham Becoming Ohio’s Mr. Basketball

LeBron James is the greatest basketball player from Ohio. The Akron native has revolutionized the NBA since his arrival. Having played for over 18 years in the NBA, people forget about LeBron’s playing career before the NBA. He was a high-school prodigy, bringing national attention to his game. He had the honor of being named Ohio’s Mr. Basketball for three years.

But now, there is a new young star who has that title. St Vincent – St. Mary’s Malaki Branham has been named Ohio’s Mr. Basketball. He is the first player from St Vincent – St. Mary’s since LeBron James to achieve that feat. James took to Twitter to congratulate Branham, noting that he had an excellent high school career, and looked forward to seeing what he would do next in basketball.

Branham himself reacted to the honor. He noted that being on the same list as LeBron James is a privilege, but also an indicator of how much work he has to do. Branham vowed to work harder going forward, and try to reach his full potential over the rest of his career. He refused to let anyone or anything get in the way of his goals and desired achievements in basketball.

James himself won this accolade on three occasions, before making his way to the NBA. Much like Kobe Bryant, James didn’t go through the collegiate system. He entered the NBA draft as an incredible prospect from high school, and went number one overall in the 2003 draft. Since then, he’s gone on to win multiple NBA championships, MVPs, All-Star nominations, and All-NBA nominations.
