Watching your favorite athlete in action is one of the major reasons why fans spend their hard-earned money on tickets. However, Friday night’s game between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Golden State Warriors disappointed a whole lot of fans when it was revealed that several star players from both teams would not be taking part in the action. One NBA fan was particularly upset with Stephen Curry and for an arguably good reason.

The Golden State Warriors faced the Cleveland Cavaliers at the recent game held at the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse stadium. The Cavs, 28-19, who are currently fifth in the Eastern Conference rankings, lost to the Warriors by 120-114.

The Cleveland Cavaliers’ home arena was filled with fans who were most probably looking forward to a face-off between Donovan Mitchell and Stephen Curry. However, despite the Warriors’ win over the Cavs, fans were left disappointed because neither team’s star players set foot on the court at all.

Based on a picture uploaded by a Twitter user Gabb Goudy, a father-son duo had purchased tickets to watch the Baby Face Assassin work his magic on the court, only to face disappointment. The father seemed to be a Cavs fan given that he was donning their team’s jersey. He was seen holding a board that indicated that he traveled 809 miles with his son just to watch Curry play. However, they found out hours before the game that the 4X NBA champion would not be playing.

Evidently, Curry was not the only player who was sidelined. Teammates Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, and Andrew Wiggins also missed the game. Therefore, Warriors coach Steve Kerr expressed his regrets for fans who were unable to watch their favorite stars play.

“I feel terrible for fans who bought a ticket expecting to see someone play. It’s a brutal part of the business. It’s why I’m going to continue to advocate for 72-game seasons,” Kerr told Anthony Slater from The Athletic.

The Golden State Warriors decided to bench their star players for the last of their five-game road trip. Despite their absence, the Warriors managed to dominate the Cleveland Cavaliers. Jordan Poole led the team to victory with 32 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists. Ty Jerome scored a season-high 22 points with 1 rebound and 8 assists.

The short-handed Warriors displayed a splendid performance, successfully making a season-high 14 three-pointers in the first two-quarters of the game.
