Coming from Euro League, it has rather been an easy transition for Luka. In his rookie season, Luka played like a veteran, averaging 21 points, 6 assists, and 7 rebounds a game.

When compared deeply, there is quite some difference between the EuroLeague and the NBA. Not only the playing time, but the pace of the game, spacing, and defense orientation. Playing in the NBA is no joke. There are thousands of college players trying to make it to the league, every year. 

Though for Luka, his response to the competition is much more different. Mostly because of the spacing on the floor and size difference of the court, Luka feels pretty comfortable penetrating through the defense when compared to scoring in EuroLeague.

His shooting threat also comes into play, as it allows him to create more options for himself and the team. 

Longer timeouts in the NBA for Luka Doncic

In a recent podcast episode of The Old Man and the Three, Luka compares playing time and timeout duration. When asked if he had to adjust his game playing in a 48 minute NBA game, he said, “Yeah, for sure but, the other thing is… in Europe you know, the timeout is one minute and you don’t have as many timeouts.”. Luka added, “Here you have, if you have played TV game, you have 4 minutes timeout. You can get a beer and come back you know, to play…”
