Do you think LeBron James is the greatest of all time? Or is it perhaps Michael Jordan? While the LeBron-Jordan GOAT debate has been going on for quite some time, it will likely never conclude. However, besides MJ or LeBron, another player has seemingly grabbed a former NBA great’s attention. A five-time NBA All-Star said that 23-year-old Luka Doncic was better than LeBron James when he was the same age.

There is no doubt that the Dallas Mavericks superstar has got an impressive set of skills. The Mavs point guard recently joined NBA legend Michael Jordan after he scored more than 20 points in six consecutive games. The previous record was broken by His Airness during the NBA season 1986-87. But that’s not all. Earlier, it was reported that Doncic has the same career playoff average as Jordan.

Like MJ, Doncic too has averaged 33.4 PPG. On the other hand, King James has built an incredible legacy of his own. In fact, the four-time NBA champion is about to surpass fellow Los Angeles Lakers great Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to become the highest scorer in the league’s history.

Michael Jordan is undoubtedly one of the greatest to ever step on the hardwood. His legacy is something that few will likely be able to match up to. The former Chicago Bulls superstar is the ultimate bar that every great NBA player is measured against. While LeBron James has possibly remained MJ’s main contender in the GOAT debate, Tim Hardaway seemingly feels differently.

NBA fans lash out at Tim Hardaway for his take on Doncic vs LeBron

Tim Hardaway recently revealed which player he preferred. The former Golden State Warriors legend felt that Luka Doncic has got much better skills than LeBron James when he was of Doncic’s age. The five-time NBA All-Star made this comment during his recent interview with Nick Raffoul from SportsLens, which was released on November 11, 2022. Halfway through the conversation, the interviewer asked Hardaway to settle the GOAT debate between MJ and LeBron. While Hardaway opted not to answer that question, he did not ignore the second one. When the interviewer asked who was better at age 23, Doncic or King James, Hardaway chose the former.

“I will take Luka at 23,” he said.

Hardaway explained that Doncic had been a professional player since the age of 16. Whereas, LeBron has been playing since the age of 18. He added, “I will say right now, looking back, 23 and 23, what Luka is doing, yeah, I think that he’s doing it better than what LeBron was doing.”

However, fans did not agree with Hardaway. As the interview went online, the Twitterati did not waste time expressing their displeasure.

Here are some of the reactions from NBA Twitter:
