“Made for the Moment”: Stephen Curry, Trae Young and the NBA World Are in Awe of Soccer Star Neymar’s Scintillating World Cup Display

The FIFA World Cup has audiences on the edge of their seats. With a number of world-renowned players representing their countries, some stars are shining brighter than ever while some have had to taste defeat. Neymar played his third World Cup but it may have been his last one. The hype around Brazil, however, has drawn reactions from several NBA superstars, who were awestricken by Neymar’s performance.

Brazil was the fan favorite to win the World Cup, only behind Argentina, but an unfortunate loss to Croatia in a quarter-final penalty shootout may have disappointed a lot of fans.

Trae Young and Stephen Curry were amazed by Neymar

After going goalless during the entirety of the game, Croatia won the game in a penalty shootout, 4-2. Neymar was visibly upset after Brazil could not match Croatia and was knocked out of the tournament.

However, Neymar did join the elite after his performance in this World Cup. Neymar matched the goal total of Brazil’s legendary player, Pele, who had scored 77 goals in total for his country.

Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry and Atlanta Hawks star Trae Young could not help but be mesmerized by Neymar’s performance. They both went on to Twitter to display their amazement at the international football star.

Curry tweeted, “Made for the moment @neymarjr.” And even Trae Young’s tweet was, “NEYMAR!!!! Wow.”

After their disappointing exit from this year’s World Cup, Neymar may not suit up for another run for Brazil. Despite being in the company of Pele for the most goals for Brazil, Neymar said, “I am not closing any doors on the national team, but I am also not guaranteeing 100 percent that I will return.”

Last Neymar appearance in the World Cup

Brazil has now been defeated five times by European countries in the World Cup, losing four times in the quarterfinals. And even though Neymar has matched Pele’s record for most goals for Brazil, Pele was a three-time World Cup winner whereas Neymar has not been able to lay his hands on the trophy.

After Brazil’s loss, their head coach, Tite, decided to step down from his position. Other aging players like Thiago Silva and Dani Alves would not be seen in the next World Cup suiting up for Brazil either.
