The New York Knicks were one of the biggest surprise packages this season. Despite not making any major moves this season, the Knicks ended up becoming one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference.

Apart from the top three teams in Philadelphia 76ers, Brooklyn Nets and Milwaukee Bucks, NYK dominated the field and finished as the fourth seed in the East. One of the biggest catalysts for their success was the emergence of star Julius Randle and coach Tom Thibodeau.

Magic Johnson explains how the Knicks have become a superstar destination

This season was certainly one to be proud of for the Knicks faithful. Given how terrible they were in these past couple of years, the Knicks had truly become the laughingstock of the league.

Despite being one of the biggest franchise in the association, they have failed to lure in free agents into the team. But all of it might be subject to change for the Knickerbockers according to Magic Johnson.

In a recent appearance at KJZ, Magic explained why this season’s success might have put up an enticing thought for disgruntled free agents. “I think because of the run they made and got to the playoffs, and the city is alive about the Knicks.

“I think guys are looking saying, ‘hey man, if I put myself in that lineup with Julius Randle and the guard Immanuel Quickley and Barrett, we can do something special.”

One of the biggest reasons for the Knicks’ incredible season was superstar Julius Randle who won the Most Improved Player award this season. Magic was certainly impressed by the progression the former Lakers’ forward has shown this season.

“Julius Randle I think guys will want to play with him. Because he plays hard, he is a team player, he is tough and rough. I’m so glad that I was part of seeing him develop with the lakers and then from the Pelicans on to the Knicks now.”

The Knicks have become one of the most impressive teams in the Eastern Conference. Given the massive potential they have shown this year, Randle & Co. might be in for a bright future ahead. Can the Knicks become an Eastern Conference juggernaut in the near future?
