After helping the Lakers bag their ninth win of the season so far, LeBron James surpassed Los Angeles Lakers legend Magic Johnson on the list of the most number of assists in the league. With 10,144 assists, the four-time NBA champion is now sixth overall on the all-time list. Additionally, he voiced that carrying on the legacy of Magic Johnson is nothing but an honor. Following this, Magic Johnson took to Twitter to congratulate James for breaking yet another NBA record.

Magic Johnson has long been a vocal fan of LeBron James. Previously, in an interview, Johnson had showered high words of praise on James. Johnson congratulated James for his philanthropic work. While doing so, he said, You are the only guy I think that can become the greatest that has ever played this game.”
This statement naturally left Michael Jordan fans infuriated. However, Magic Johnson has seemingly been unfazed by this backlash.

After the Los Angeles Lakers‘ win over the Milwaukee Bucks, Magic Johnson was thrilled with their performance. He called for fans to have hope as the team is finally in sync and creating magic again on the court. Additionally, he was left highly impressed with LeBron James.
When it was winning time in the 4th quarter, LeBron James was at his best finishing with 28 points, 11 assists and 8 rebounds. Unbelievable!

Following this, the news of the 18-time All-Star going past Johnson in the assist list made circles online. Magic Johnson was quick to congratulate James. Admiration for the four-time MVP was oozing out as he addressed ‘King James’ to be one of the best in the league.

Magic Johnson on LeBron’s basketball IQ
The five-time NBA champion appeared on Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay-Shay podcast in October. In this podcast, he pointed out that James lifts up the performance and spirit of his entire team, all while moving swiftly through the court. Johnson then commented about his basketball IQ.

While calling him the smartest on the court, Johnson said, “I keep telling people his basketball IQ is so far above everybody else. He reads situation, he reads the game, ‘Okay I need the score now, oh let me get so and so involved he can do it all.'” According to Johnson, James is a good and smart guy off the court as well.
