It is none other than Ben Simmons. The former Philadelphia 76ers man joined the Nets after a major trade sent James Harden to the 76ers. However, he was unable to play any matches for the franchise due to injuries. This might change considering the news that has come up recently.

The Brooklyn Nets once boasted of having one of the best rosters in the league. With a trio of Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and James Harden, big things were expected. The trio never really worked together owing to injuries.

After the 76ers traded Ben Simmons, Seth Curry, and Andre Drummond to the Nets, the trio of Durant, Irving, and Harden broke up. This was the start of their downfall. After struggling to make it into the post-season, they faced one of their biggest disappointments in the first round of the playoffs. 

The Nets faced the Boston Celtics with the Celtics being in sublime form. The difference in quality was noticeable as Brooklyn clearly struggled. Moreover, the Celtics swept them 4-0 to advance to the second round of the playoffs.

After the disappointing season, Kyrie Irving’s latest news wreaked havoc. Sources close to the player and others suggested that he wants to leave, with the Los Angeles Lakers being one of his options. On the other hand, Kevin Durant has also asked for a trade.

Amidst all this drama, the franchise will reportedly keep Ben Simmons. The latest news said, “Source close to the situation tells The Athletic that the Nets are expected to keep Ben Simmons. Some had rightfully wondered if there would be a ripple effect here on the 25-year-old’s Nets future.”

With Simmons yet to make his debut for the Nets on the court, it will be interesting to see how he will handle the responsibility this season. Safe to say, he will be one of the faces of the team considering the Durant and Irving situation.
