Of all the off-season moves the Los Angeles Lakers have made, the best one might be their acquisition of Malik Monk. Sure, Westbrook is a Hall of Famer and a superstar point guard, but he has not lived up to expectations. Monk, meanwhile, is having a great season, and he has shown signs of being an all-star.

Monk was the 11th pick in the 2017 NBA draft, and he was picked up by the Charlotte Hornets. He improved on his scoring each and every year, but with the Hornets committing to LaMelo Ball and Terry Rozier, it became hard for him to find proper game time. So he signed with the Lakers on a trade exception salary deal and so far lived up to the mark.

Monk is a great three-point shooter, but he has a multi-dimensional game which makes him a threat from anywhere on the floor. The Lakers will hope to see the same gameplay from Monk, as we approach the All-Star break.

Even though Monk is one of the Laker’s best players, he is on a veteran’s minimum contract. This is one of the best-valued contracts the Lakers have and they will want to have him for the future. Monk will also hope that he gets a long-term deal, which means more money for him.

Being a young player, he still does not have major endorsements, but he will soon. Especially if he continues his great play, and that too with the Lakers. Malik Monk will hope he can sign a long-term deal next season and secure his future with the purple and gold outfit.
