Michael Jordan has been retired for more than a decade but he would still manage to prove as a worthy opponent on the court. Back in his prime years, he was arguably unstoppable. Add in his competitive nature, he would definitely give his best to rip his opponents to shreds. Nevertheless, beating Jordan in a one-on-one game is probably a dream for many. Rapper Michael Bivins too had such a dream, but not in the game of basketball.

In an old resurfaced YouTube video, Michael Bivins talked about the time he played a game of pool with Michael Jordan. The duo was apparently at a club where MJ called him over for a game of pool. What probably started as a friendly game didn’t take long to turn into a competitive one.

It is no secret that Jordan likes to trash-talk his opponents. Therefore, Bivins decided to up his game, clearly provoked by Jordan’s words.

The unmatched competitive nature of Michael Jordan

Bivins beat Michael Jordan in the first round. As MJ noticed Bivins’ impressive game, the Chicago Bulls legend suggested a one-on-one. Soon enough, the six-time NBA champion worked his magic and defeated the $50 million worth rapper in the second round.

“If I’m gonna lose, I’m gonna lose. Just remember I beat you once. I wonder if you can go home and say, ‘Yo Mama! I beat Michael Jordan,'” said Bivins.

Fans are well aware of the competitive mindset of Jordan. However, the stories of MJ smashing his opponents never get old. Such was his level of competitiveness that he didn’t even let kids win over him. In 2016, Phoenix Suns point guard Chris Paul challenged MJ at a Flight School basketball camp. Paul bet him that if Jordan missed a single shot, then he would have to give a pair of Jordan shoes to every kid watching.

One would think that for the sake of the kids, His Airness would tone down the competitiveness. However, the Chicago Bulls legend successfully made each of the three shots. This shouldn’t come as a surprise, given that Jordan did not make any exceptions when it came to competing.
