Since his retirement, Shaquille O’Neal has engaged in a variety of disciplines. And it won’t surprise the world if they witness Shaq running an election. There have been a few important occurrences that show that the Big Diesel is educated on socio-political issues. Shaq is also fairly active on social media, especially on Instagram. He recently posted a story about Maryland electing its first black governor.

Democrat Wes Moore is a renowned political figure, former combat veteran, and businessman, who recently got elected as the first black governor of Maryland. He hailed the slogan “leave no one behind”  and promised to create equal opportunities for the residents of Maryland. If you take a deep dive you’ll find a lot of things in common between Shaq and Moore. One of the most common is philanthropy.

On 9th November, Shaq shared a post by @hollywoodunlocked in his Instagram stories. The post read, “Maryland elects its first black governor, Wes Moore.”

Shaquille O’Neal wants to help people but feels powerless

50-year-old Shaq gave his first vote in 2020, following his collaboration with former First Lady Michelle Obama on the When We All Vote campaign. Shaquille O’Neal also met the prime minister of Australia Anthony Albanese back in August 2022. The purpose of the meeting was to create equality among people from all walks of life. Shaq also has a lot of philanthropical programs that help people in need. And countless times he has been spotted helping people on the streets and even shopping for them.

Talking about powers Shaq has never revealed any political ambitions. But once he said, “Lot of things hurt me and I do have one negative emotion. It hurts my heart when I see homeless people. I wish I was smart enough or had enough power to fix that.” One of the most important qualities the Los Angeles Lakers legend possesses is a love of people and a desire to give back to them.
