There has been a new twist in Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant’s saga. Irving reportedly wants to stay and play for the franchise and he does not care what happens to Durant. This report by the New York Post is coming at the heels of most other news outlets saying that Irving already has dreams of becoming a Los Angeles Laker.

Now, the New York Post has contradicted them by stating that Irving does not want a reunion with LeBron James. Kyrie Irving potentially going to the Lakers was one of the biggest headlines this off-season.

The Post has also stated that their source was very surprised by the rumors. the maverick point guard had recently signed his player option with the Brooklyn Nets.

According to the source, neither the Nets nor Irving has any intentions of parting ways. This would come as a huge surprise to those who thought that the saga would end with Irving leaving for pastures new.

There haven’t been many suitors for Kyrie Irving. The Lakers were the only ones reportedly willing to do business with the Nets but their prices have not been matched yet. The Brooklyn Nets want a few first-round picks alongside Russell Westbrook’s monster contract. The Los Angeles Lakers do not want to give away those picks and hence, things have come to a standstill. All four parties involved in this transaction have played nice with each other publicly so far.

Kevin Durant’s trade took Kyrie’s sails

The Post also reported that Durant was indeed on sale. The two-time NBA title winner prefers to go to the Phoenix Suns or the Miami Heat. But, those hopes were dashed as the Brooklyn Nets demanded a very high price for him in return.
