Dwyane Wade is one of the rare retired NBA players who still holds a firm grab over stardom and limelight. The man is still a hot entity and a lot of that has to do with his star wife Gabrielle Union too.

The Flash shot to fame after becoming the fifth overall pick in the much-celebrated draft class of 2003. He then played in the Olympics as a 22-YO and single-handedly helped the Miami Heat lift their first-ever NBA title. The former teammate of LeBron James achieved a lot on the court, but the stability in his off-court life came only after his second wife entered his life.

Gabrielle, the Bad Boys fame American actress, shared a similar dating history as Mr. WOW of the NBA. She was in a relationship with football running back Chris Howard just as Dwyane Wade was with Siohvaughn Funches. The fresh couple dated for five straight years while the 13x All-Star lifted two more championships in that period. 

However, the lovebirds took a brief break in 2013. Later, they reunited in 2014 only to get married. Just four years into their marriage, they welcomed Kaavia James Union Wade (must say, a legendary name) as a surrogate baby.

Father Prime and the controversy surrounding his former spouse

Well, during the small break between DWade and Gabrielle’s relationship, the Chicago native scored a fling with Aja Metoyer. That tangent with his new girlfriend led to the birth of his son, Xavier Zechariah Wade. However, this did not spark as much controversy as his first marriage did. 

The NBA star married his high school lover Siohvaughn Funches in 2002, while he was still playing for Marquette. They soon welcomed their first son in Zaire, while DWade was still a 20-YO. Just five years later, Zaya came into their life. Unfortunately, it was during this time that they filed for a divorce.

The battle of alimony, settlement and cheating accusations on Flash was a really tough time for the athlete. Just imagine the atrocities as it took four years for them to settle the dispute. Miss Funches received $5 million, a Chicago home, and four cars as they signed a ‘non-disparagement’ contract with Wade carrying the kids’ custody.

Today, DWade is a future Hall of Famer. Also, he has Gabrielle by his side. Furthermore, they also support Wade’s nephew in Dahveon Morris. That’s the Wade clan for you!
