One of the biggest tragedies to hit NBA legend Michael Jordan was when armed suspects murdered his father, James Jordan, way back in 1993. This left a young MJ heartbroken and distraught. Although the case went on for a long time and the suspects were finally caught and were held to trial, they were not sentenced to death.

Interestingly enough, an interview with a suspect revealed that MJ could have the murderers dead. Former Chicago Bulls star, John Salley, revealed some shocking details about the trial of James Jordan in an old interview.

The interview showed that the suspect knew MJ could have had him dead. John Salley revealed exactly why Jordan refrained from taking such an extreme step.

The former Bulls star talked about how one crime can lead to another, and that might turn problematic for MJ considering his popularity.

Salley said, “Look what happened to OJ. OJ told two guys to show up with him, he’s gonna go get his stuff. Next thing you know, OJ gets 13 years in jail.”

Despite facing such a huge loss in his life, Jordan stayed strong and turned into a global superstar. Moreover, he dedicated one of his most famous NBA wins to his late father.

There is no denying that Jordan is one of the greatest NBA players ever. The Chicago Bulls star has six NBA titles to his name and has won almost everything there is to win. While all of his title wins are special, his 1996 win is certainly the title he holds dearest.

He put up phenomenal numbers in the regular season averaging 30.4 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 4.3 assists in 82 games. The Bulls extended their dominant form in the post-season as they qualified for the NBA finals where they faced the Seattle Supersonics.

The Bulls won the series 4-2 with Jordan averaging 27.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 4.2 assists in the finals. These numbers earned him his fourth NBA Finals MVP award. Safe to say, MJ did not disappoint as he dedicated this special win to his father.
