The former mob boss’ account reinforces the media story tying Michael Jordan and his gambling problems to the murder of his father. Franzese shared some furtive information from a reliable source inside the NBA to substantiate his claims.

Incidentally, Michael Jordan’s father James R. Jordan Sr. was found dead on a highway near Lumberton, North Carolina on July 23, 1993. Jordan Sr. had been reportedly sleeping inside his car. The police initially surmised the case to be a carjacking attempt gone awry.

Later on, media speculation implicated the incident on Michael Jordan and his gambling habits. Several theories tried to link Jordan’s supposed gambling issue to the death of his father.

“[Jordan]He was told to leave the NBA around the time his father got murdered“, said the 71-year-old ex-mobster. In other words, he hinted that stories linking Jordan’s gambling problem with his father’s death had started to circulate in the press. Therefore, the NBA forced him out of the league to avoid bad publicity. “And the NBA didn’t want the press so they asked him to leave for a while“, he added.

This theory unveils much new information about the situation. At the same time, it makes a lot of bold claims.
