Michael Jordan is considered one of the most fierce competitors in the NBA. Jordan’s willingness to win and the efforts he made to make it happen were simply astonishing. Fortunately, the six-time NBA champ’s physical features also gave him the advantage to dominate the best players in the league. The Chicago Bulls legend is 6’6 tall and weighed 216lbs during his playing days. Moreover, His Airness possesses massive 11 and 3/8 inches wide hands which allowed him complete control over the ball. Once, NBA veteran Rex Chapman revealed that Michael Jordan made a 17-pound bowling ball look like a mere fruit with his unbelievable handspan.
Chapman and Jordan have been buddies since 1984 when Rex was recruited by the University of North Carolina. However, the duo faced each other in the 1996 playoff series. Rex Chapman was playing for the Miami Heat, while Michael Jordan led the Chicago Bulls. The NBA veteran dropped a career-high 39 points for the Heat against the Bulls. Jordan responded to Chapman’s efforts weeks later by scoring 40 points against the Miami Heat.

Further, Chapman once shared a story on sports presenter Rich Eisen’s podcast. The former Heat guard claimed that one of the most underrated assets that helped MJ dominate the NBA was his massive hands.
Michael Jordan once palmed a massive bowling ball
Rex Chapman recalled a story when he and Jordan went bowling with a bunch of friends. MJ was talking to his friend with his back turned towards the lane. The 14-time All-Star did not realize that he needed to throw a ball to reset the pins. So, instead of turning around and taking a shot, Jordan picked up a 17-pound bowling ball and palmed it toward the pins backward. Chapman stated, “Picked that 17-pound ball up like a grapefruit. And never stopped [talking].”

Eisen said, “You told a story on my podcast of him rolling a bowling ball backwards, to try and clear a lane right. And he palmed it.” Subsequently, Chapman proceeded to explain how MJ’s physical gifts coupled with his indomitable spirit helped him dominate the hardwood to an unprecedented extent.
