Winning the three-peat twice, the two formed the most formidable duo in the league. The two were the protagonists of the 6 NBA championships Chicago Bulls won in a decade (1991, 1992, 1993, 1996, 1997, 1998).

Most teammates who achieve this much success together often turn out to be best of friends. Sadly, MJ and Scott did not have a proper friendship. Shannon talked about the quote in Pippen’s book, which essentially called MJ, selfish. This might have been because of what Scottie saw in The Last Dance. The portrayal of his lowest and the situation of 1994, when MJ was not even part of the team, were some things that Scottie did not like one bit.

In reply to this Oakley shared, “I mean you know Scottie, he felt hurt by The Last Dance yeah cause you know like I said I mean I looked at it you know like yeah they didn’t pump Dennis Rodman up a lot.”

“I mean like you said Batman and Robin [MJ and Scottie] and so Dennis Rodman was, it was a great third wheel, but I think Scottie maybe should have got more played in a positive way. But like you said, Mike had the remote control.”

In reaction to all this, Scottie had once claimed that he was a better player than Michael Jordan. The NBA world was sent into chaos as stars reacted to Scottie’s statement. Oakley also mentioned this on the show.

Oakley said, “Scottie can’t win the argument. He’s better than Michael. He said that a lot of times he’s better than Michael. But he can always have a point of view about what he feels about what happened and how things happen [but] he had to live with that.”
