Michael Jordan’s Close Friend Goes Against Him in Shocking Defense of “Chicago’s Biggest Villain”

Michael Jordan’s ‘The Last Dance’ was released in 2020 and it’s safe to say it has made some cracks between NBA’s most successful duo. Things between the dynamic duo of Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen have not been pleasant since the release of the docu-series.

Scottie Pippen did not like his portrayal in the life story of Michael Jordan. He took offense at that and claimed that he was actually a better player than Michael Jordan.

Scottie Pippen revealed his side of the story in his book and claimed him to be as great as Michael Jordan. Both the legends of the NBA did unimaginable things in the 90s. The formidable duo dominated the league for a decade.

However, the relationship between the two is sour now and their former teammate, Charles Oakley, talked about it recently. He also talked about the time Pippen had a contract dispute with the franchise, and surprisingly defended the then GM.

Charles Oakley was recently in a conversation with Shannon Sharpe on Club Shay Shay. Among many other topics and differences between MJ and Scottie, Charles Oakley specified why Scottie had let the emotions get the better of him.

Oakley said, “They weren’t gonna get more money because Scottie should’ve known that Jerry Reinsdorf wouldn’t tear up Michael Jordan the contract. They definitely gonna tear up Scottie’s. So that was the lost cause. But Scottie said he wanted the finance. You know because his back, was you know, he had back problems, so that’s why he signed it.”

“But that’s when they come back to Jerry Krause. They blamed Jerry for some things, but Jerry had no power. Jerry was a scapegoat.”

The year was 1994 when MJ was not a part of the Chicago Bulls and Scottie was at his lowest. Jerry Krause, the GM, at the time was called Chicago’s Biggest Villain in the documentary. Oakley disagreed with Jordan’s words and actually said that Jerry Krause was not the one pulling any strings.

Shannon mentioned how MJ calling Scottie selfish may have been what hurt him the most. Oakley also said that he does not think the duo can ever be friends like before, and that is actually unfortunate because of the legacy the two legends had together.
