For an athlete who was at the forefront of sports media for more than a decade, Jordan was surprisingly a very private person. During his playing days and even after his final basketball retirement in 2003, MJ stays away from the media. He appears for public appearances but keeps his private life as private as he can. Jordan got married to his first wife, Juanita Vanoy, in 1989. They had three kids together. Two sons named Jeffrey, Marcus, and a daughter named Jasmine.

A resurfaced article talked about how Juanita wanted her kids to create their identities for themselves. “When they were growing up, most coaches wanted them to wear No. 23,” Vanoy said. “I insisted that they not do that. It was important to me. I wanted to make sure that their skills were going to be what they made them and that it was based on how hard they worked.”

At the peak of his powers, Michael Jordan was synonymous with basketball and the NBA. While he was still playing, many pundits and players believed him to be the greatest player ever. What they attributed it to was his perfect record in the NBA Finals.
