Kelly Olynyk with the buzzer-beater against the Hornets!

The Detroit Pistons had lost 15 games in a row against the Charlotte Hornets over a span of nearly four and a half years. The Bad Boys recorded their last win against the Hornets on October 18, 2017.

They won 102-90 the last time around. Four and half years later, Kelly Olynyk was the star for the Detroit Pistons. At the overtime buzzer, the 30-year-old made a fadeaway jumper from the baseline to beat Charlotte 127-126.

In the dying seconds, Pistons recorded a dramatic victory over Hornets breaking their losing streak of 15 games. Terry Rozier topped in points as he grabbed 33 and Miles Bridges had 29 for the Hornets. On the other side for the Pistons, Saddiq Bey had 28, Jerami Grant had 26, and Kelly Olynyk 20.

Kelly eventually was the hero of the night when he came up with the winner after Cunningham was fouled. With 2.1 seconds remaining on the clock, an inbound pass came out to Kelly, who made the winning points and scored the buzzer-beater.

P.J. Washington made the game go into overtime, but he could not score a layup to send Hornets 3 points in the lead. This led to heartbreak for the Charlotte Hornets.

This was Kelly Olynyk’s first NBA game-winner.

Kelly said after the game, “It took me nine years, but I’m here,”

The 30-year-old veteran had been around for a long time. He finally had the first game-winner of his career, which is in itself a memory to cherish.

This was a flashback for Michael Jordan to the time when MJ’s Bulls and Bad Boys Pistons had a fierce rivalry. In his playing days, Pistons often used physicality to stop MJ’s dominance over the games and this physical gameplay was the reason they were termed as The Bad Boys.
