Michael Jordan’s Son Marcus Acknowledges “Crazy” Charles Barkley Comment on His Father

The NBA will forever be indebted to Michael Jordan for taking the game of basketball to the next level in the 90s. Jordan’s legacy has transcended global boundaries and his sheer determination to dominate his peers has served as an inspiration across generations. Understandably, it would have been a surreal experience for MJ’s children to grow up with the whole world revering their father. Years later, Marcus Jordan still leaves no stone unturned to defend his father’s legacy, as is evident by him sharing this Charles Barkley clip.

Marcus Jordan recently acknowledged Charles Barkley’s crazy” comments about his father as the Philadelphia 76ers legend narrated a bizarre MJ story. It is probable that Marcus has heard the story before, but it doesn’t hurt to remind the world of his father’s insanity on the hardwood.

In a recent Instagram story, Marcus Jordan shared an excerpt from Charles Barkley and Ernie Johnson’s The Steam Room podcast. In the clip, Barkley, who was a once dear friend of Michael Jordan narrated an astonishing story of MJ playing 36 rounds of golf before destroying his opponents.

This when I knew Michael Jordan was crazy, Me, him[MJ], Chuck Daly, and David Robinson go play golf,” said Barkley. He further added, “We playing Puerto Rico that afternoon. Chuck says, ‘Hey guys we played 18, let’s go.’ Michael said ‘Imma play another 18’. Chuck says ‘We gotta game tonight‘. Michael says ‘I’ll be good’.”

“We get to the game, [Chuck says] ‘ David you got this guy… Michael, you got this guy. Michael said ‘No I got the point guard.. he said some sh*t about me in the newspaper and I’m gonna get him.‘”

Don’t you ever say my damn name again,” Barkley recounted Jordan shouting at the guard, while demolishing him on the court. He later disclosed his conclusion after the game, “I’m like, yo man, there’s sum wrong with this dude.”

Furthermore, the 76ers legend mentioned how it was incredible that Jordan “could play 36 holes of golf and guard him like it’s game seven“. His Airness left Chuck and others in awe, with this story as just one example of his astounding abilities.

Jeremy Roenick narrated a similar story about Jordan

In 2019, Jeremy Roenick, the NFL icon, narrated how 36 holes of golf, 10 pints of beer, and losing some money couldn’t stop Jordan from dropping 44 points against the Cleveland Cavaliers in 1992. The immense confidence of His Airness was staggering and it is difficult to find players who can ‘Walk the Talk’ in today’s day and age.

It seems like it was just how the Chicago Bulls legend was, as he has numerous stories of enjoying himself before destroying opponents. He was a perennial MVP, the reason why the MVP trophy was renamed after him in 2022, solidifying his legacy in the NBA.
