Millionaire Actor Steve Harvey Believes Magic Johnson Convinced “Genius Businessman” LeBron James to Join Lakers

The Los Angeles Lakers franchise boast of having some of the biggest stars in the NBA play for them. They further added more power to the list of legends who have represented the gold and purple with the signing of LeBron James.

This move by LeBron was taken well by many as he looked to further carry on his legacy in the NBA. Interestingly enough, eminent actor Steve Harvey feels Magic Johnson was the driving force behind LeBron’s move.

Moreover, he praised the business acumen of LeBron while stating the economic benefits of moving to LA. Harvey said, “LeBron is a genius as a businessman, and if you don’t think our friend, Magic Johnson, who is another incredible businessman said to him ‘come out here and play with us. You will be sitting next to me.’ If you don’t think that persuaded him to come to LA, against my better wishes.”

While LeBron‘s true intention of joining the Lakers is something only he knows, a legend like Magic persuading one of the best players in the league is quite a possibility.

When did LeBron James join the Lakers?

After his contract run out with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2018, LeBron James decided against signing a new deal. He was easily the biggest name in the free agency during that time, with teams lining up for his signature.

He finally decided to join the Los Angeles Lakers amidst much fanfare. Interestingly enough, he made a move to the Western Conference for the first time in his career. James signed a four-year, $154 million deal with the historic franchise.

Although his first season was lackluster, the addition of Anthony Davis worked wonders for James. He won his 4th NBA title with the Lakers in 2020 and added himself to the history books.

He averages 30.3 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 6.2 assists for the team this season and is surely going to continue in LA for the next season.
