MLB icon Alex Rodriguez joined the Minnesota Timberwolves as a vital member after 22 long years in baseball. The $350 million rich superstar partnered with the CEO of Jet.com Marc Lore to invest in the Timberwolves and become majority owners over the course of two years in 2021. A-Rod stepping into the league as an owner came as a shock to many. However, the Wolves’ 6’4 guard, Anthony Edwards, had an even more shocking response when he revealed he didn’t know who the 2009 World Series Champion was.

Two years later, the two have only gotten closer. Joining the loud Kaseya Center in Miami, both the stars were seen sitting courtside together as Jimmy Butler and the Miami Heat put on a show for them.

The Minnesota Timberwolves fought a tough battle to enter the playoffs. Though the team was sent home in the very first round, NBA buffs have a lot of belief in the organization’s future. Anthony Edwards stands as the major piece for the T-Wolves after the 21-year-old played his heart out against the Denver Nuggets in the playoffs. As the T-Wolves are trying to build a championship team around him, the 6’4 guard has developed his relationship with MLB legend Alex Rodriguez in the meantime.

A-Rod made his second payment a few months back to increase his ownership stake to forty percent with the Timberwolves. While there is still some time left to acquire majority ownership, the 47-year-old has started to develop a bonding with his players. However, even after Edwards’ statement about him, A-Rod has surprised the hoop fans today.

In 2021, Edwards revealed in an interview, ” I don’t know who that[Rodriguez] is. I know he is going to be the owner. But I don’t know anything about baseball.” Well, Edwards at least kept it real. However, A-Rod doesn’t seem to care about it, or rather Edwards was forgiven!

The 2023 NBA All-Star has shown his capacity to lead a team from the front. In the first round against the Nuggets, he helped Minnesota avoid a sweep with a brilliant 34-point performance. Though the postseason run came to a halt the very next game, Edwards has instilled hope into the T-Wolves fanbase.

Karl-Anthony Towns‘ superstar badge might have passed onto the 21-year-old already. The Wolves are expected to make a lot of changes this offseason, to build a team with Edwards as the centerpiece.
