Amid March Madness and the NBA craze, high school basketball stars of America put on a show for basketball fans over the past couple of days. The McDonald’s All-American game has paved the way for young teenagers to make headlines with memorable performances. NBA star LeBron James who was courtside to support his son, Bronny, took the opportunity to show his love to the girls’ team, which broke multiple records. Ahead of Bronny’s showcase, the Los Angeles Lakers forward took time to encourage the girls. 

Following his dad’s path, Bronny James’ high school performances bagged him a spot in the McDonald’s All-American game. However, the girls’ teams stole the spotlight in front of the NBA’s All-Time scoring leader. 

Judea Watkins and co. make history as LeBron James showed love to the girls

The NBA prospects of Sierra Canyon showed out today at the All-American game. 17-year-old Judea Watkins from Bronny’s high school dropped 25 points along with Notre Dame star Hannah Hidalgo’s 26-point performance. Moreover, Hidalgo set the girls’ record for most points scored in a single All-American game. Considering the above-mentioned girls’ crucial performances, both the young stars were named the MVPs.

Representing the West, Watkins, and Hidalgo helped their team defeat the East with a 110-102 scoreline. Moreover, both the East and the West set another record for the highest-scoring girls’ game in All-American history. Breaking multiple records, Hannah Hidalgo walked up to Bron as they dapped up after the historic win in Houston.

 

That wasn’t the end of the showcase as the boys put on a clinic as well. Bronny James made a statement with his shooting ability by hitting five threes, with an efficient field goal percentage of 62% from outside the arc. He finished with 15 points, all of which came from the three-point range.

A video of LeBron James celebrating Bronny’s first three from the corner went viral on the internet. Moreover, Bronny also impressed the crowd with his performance in the dunk contest yesterday.  

The son of another former Cavaliers star stole the show 

Despite James grabbing all the headlines ahead of the matchup, the son of former Cleveland Cavaliers star Dajuan Wagner, DJ Wagner, was the highlight of the game. With 19 points and a game-winning dunk, Wagner was named the MVP of the 2023 All-American game. Wagner’s performance helped the East edge past the West.
