Arguably their greatest-ever player, LeBron James has had a troubled relationship with the Cleveland Cavaliers and its fans. His controversial move to the Miami Heat in 2010 and his allegiance with other teams made him very unpopular among fans.

Interestingly enough, James was very unpopular among fans as he openly supported the Cowboys instead of the Cleveland Browns. The Cowboys happen to be one of the rivals of the Browns. His fascination for one of Cleveland’s biggest rivals compelled local fans and media personalities to question the King’s loyalties.

Despite all he has done for the team and the city, James has been questioned about his loyalty to Cleveland in the past. Before a 2008 game between the Cowboys and the Browns, fans noticed LeBron hanging out with the Cowboys Wide Receiver Terrell Owens. He also ended up hugging cornerback Adam “Pacman” Jones.

Back in 2008, when James had two years left on his current deal, a local journalist raised an important question. Columnist Morris asked, “Does Cavaliers superstar James really hate Cleveland that much?”

He further added, “It makes you wonder whether he really likes you. I suppose it could be worse: He could be a Pittsburgh Steelers fan. But that sort of nonsense would make his life difficult in Cleveland.”

Following a game against the Portland Trail Blazers, James called out reporters, saying, “I was thinking when I was on my way over here, I was wondering why I haven’t gotten a question from you guys about the Jerry Jones photo.”

James confronted the media over the disparity in their coverage of the Jerry Jones and the Kyrie Irving controversy. Irving made some anti-semitic comments last month which brought in a lot of flak from the media. Moreover, the former NBA champion was suspended for some games without pay.
