Queen Elizabeth II, the longest-serving monarch of the United Kingdom, passed away at the age of 96. This brought an end to the reign of arguably the most famous monarch in modern history. The Queen was so popular that when she visited the Kentucky Derby, she even stole the limelight from ‘His Airness’, Michael Jordan.

A well-known fact about the Queen is her love for Derbys and horse racing. The Queen used to often visit the biggest derbies of the year and she would also feature her own horses in the races. Sometimes she would even cross the pond to make the visit to the United States. She even visited the world-famous Kentucky Derby a few times.

Queen Elizabeth II overshadowed even Michael Jordan and other superstars
The Queen visited the Kentucky Derby 5 times in her reign. Her last visit came in 2007 in the 133rd Kentucky Derby. Her love for horses drew her to the States multiple times over the years for research and training purposes. But this time, she was there to witness the action.

Being one of the most famous Derbys in the world, it attracted multiple stars. That included Jordan and NFL superstar Peyton Manning and actress Gabrielle Union. But the biggest star on that day and probably in the history of the derby was The Queen.

One of the senior members of the officials said that they have attracted multiple celebrities, sports stars, and even presidents, but the Queen’s visit took the most planning. The organization had to meet with the British authorities. the United States Secret service and other law enforcement officials multiple times. That was what the visit of the Queen meant and her importance as well.

But despite all the arrangements, the Queen was her usual self. She interacted with everyone involved with the horses and all of them had great opinions about her saying that she was kind and gentle.
The world will feel the loss of one of its most famous individuals who was beloved by billions across the globe. Not a lot of people had the attraction that she drew and there are very few that even outmatch the great Michael Jordan.
