Despite having secured a spot in the play-in tournament, the Timberwolves found themselves in a difficult situation when Rudy Gobert got involved in an altercation with one of his teammates. Following the incident, a statement given by the NBA star turned several heads as fans pondered on the subtle implication behind his response.

NBA forward addresses his dispute with Rudy Gobert

Fans were left stunned when Rudy Gobert threw a punch at teammate Kyle Anderson during the Sunday night game. The duo had a heated exchange during a timeout in the second quarter following which Gobert punched Anderson in the chest. Fortunately, the duo were immediately separated before the situation escalated any further.

Gobert’s actions prompted the Wolves to send him home shortly after the incident and suspend him for the play-in game. Following the game, Anderson took the time out to give his thoughts on the altercation.

When asked about the reason behind Gobert’s outburst, he said, “Tempers flare, you know, we are in the middle of the game. A game we wanna win, a huge one. It is what it is, sh*t happens. It’s not the first time something like that has happened.”

Following Gobert’s exit, NBA forward Karl-Anthony Towns led the Wolves to a 113-108 victory. Towns dropped 30 points and eight rebounds, whereas, Gobert only managed to score 2 points and three rebounds before leaving the game in the second quarter.

Fans react to Anderson’s remark

While Gobert issued an apology for his violent reaction, fans couldn’t help but wonder what Anderson had meant when he said ‘it’s not the first time’.?While Anderson could simply be talking about the previous physical disputes that took place between teammates, it nevertheless left fans wondering. One fan wrote, “Kyle flinched or tightened up like he was bracing himself before Gobert punched him. He must have gotten hit before or knew what he said was going to get him hit.”?
