The Los Angeles Lakers moved on from Russell Westbrook, after trading him to the Utah Jazz. The whole ordeal involved a three-team trade that involved the Lakers, the Jazz, and the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Lakers arguably got a great deal in exchange for Westbrook, which brought a former Lakers player back to the purple and gold franchise. However, Westbrook got referred to as a “vampire” by ESPN’s Dave McMenamin while quoting a source, leading to his wife Nina lashing out.
During the show, McMenamin referred to the Lakers moving on from Russell Westbrook as, “You remove a vampire from the locker room. That meaning a vampire sucks the blood out of the locker room,” according to one of his sources.

Russell Westbrook’s wife Nina was left irate at such comments by an ESPN veteran reporter. She spoke out, stating, “I have school aged children who have to listen to their peers repeat the nasty things that you guys say on television about their father. I guess I will prepare myself to explain to my 5 year old that his dad is not actually a vampire.”
Fans then showed their support for Westbrook and his wife on social media.

Exactly. And it’s all the reporters that basically are Laker homers. It’s truly sad and pathetic.
That’s why vengeance will be sweet when he changes uniforms in a Clipper jersey. And get under an organization that will actually care about him.

Westbrook still good in my book. Just didn’t work out in LA for some reason but somewhere new he’ll be back on beast mode.

Everyone deserves respect no matter what the issues are. If it didn’t workout in LA, it could workout else where. Thank you @russwest44 for your contributions to LA. Best of luck in your career. Athletes are people as well and have families.
