According to recent reports, the Russian authorities had transferred Griner to a penal colony. According to Griner’s attorneys, they need to be made aware of Griner’s current location. However, they would be informed once the Mercury star has reached her destination. No one is aware of Griner’s whereabouts, so it has raised concerns among her fans and family. Addressing the ongoing situation, Tremitiere stated that Griner is going through something no one could imagine.

“She ain’t ready for nine years. That was like…and I feel bad for her and I hope…My prayer now isn’t that she stays safe. My prayer now is that she stays alive,” said Tremitiere.

Chantel Tremitiere hopes POTUS will bring Brittney Griner back

Brittney Griner was taken from the detention center on November 4 and is apparently on her way to an undisclosed location. The Sacramento Monarchs’ point guard said that it was scary that no one knew where she was. Tremitiere stated that Griner was not ‘built for prison’. Therefore, she hoped that Biden and other US officials would be able to bring Griner and Paul Whelan back home soon.

“Because they gotta work like 12-14 hours a day. They let them shower twice a week over there. You know they don’t have no clothes for no six-nine over there,” said Tremitiere.

Earlier, President Biden had stated that he is hoping to negotiate terms with President Vladimir Putin. Given that the US midterm elections are now over, US officials are hopeful that the Russian government will agree to talk about the possibility of exchanging prisoners. The US government had earlier stated that they had offered to transfer Viktor Bout in exchange for Griner and Whelan.

“Every minute that Brittney Griner must endure wrongful detention in Russia is a minute too long,” said Karine Jean-Pierre, White House press secretary.

Russian authorities arrested Griner at the Moscow airport in February 2022. After spending six months in the detention center, the Russian court sentence her to nine years in prison in August.
