The Golden State Warriors were arguably the best team in the NBA last season. So it’s likely hard to turn down an opportunity to join them. But an NBA All-Star did exactly that as he turned down Draymond Green and a chance to play with Stephen Curry before this season.
DeMar DeRozan was one of the standout players of last season. He joined the Chicago Bulls as a free agent last season and made them one of the contenders early in the season. Only injuries to key players stopped the Bulls from contending.

But DeRozan undoubtedly had a spectacular season. He averaged 27.9 PPG, 5.2 RPG, and 4.9 APG while shooting 50% from the field. He was one of the MVP contenders of the season.
But had things gone differently, DeRozan may not have joined the Bulls and he may have ended the season as an NBA champion.
DeRozan said no to joining Stephen Curry and Draymond Green
DeRozan and Green are very good friends and have even played together on the US Olympic team. So it’s natural for Draymond Green to try and recruit his buddy for the Golden State Warriors as he went through free agency. Green may have joked with his idea, but DeRozan was having none of it. Green revealed on his podcast that DeRozan declined him when he asked about it.
Green said, ?The conversation turned to, ?Yo, come to the Warriors? and you were like, ?F?, no. I?m not coming there. I?m not coming to play with y?all.’?

Imagine having a team of DeRozan, Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green. The Warriors, who were already the champions, would have probably been unstoppable again.

Eventually, he was welcomed to the Bulls with open arms. The Chicago Bulls at the start of the season were one of the most exciting teams to watch. They had two superstars in DeRozan and Zach Lavine. And a solid core in Lonzo Ball, Nikola Vucevic and Alex Caruso.

Unfortunately, they had to deal with a lot of injuries and they couldn’t build on their early season start. The Bulls and DeRozan will certainly want to contend for the title next season and hope to avoid any injuries along the way next season.
