The Los Angeles Lakers can’t seem to catch a break as things seem to keep deteriorating for them. The team’s record now stands at 0-5 in the season so far. The Lakers lost their fifth consecutive game to Karl-Anthony Towns and the Minnesota Timberwolves. Star power forward Anthony Davis did not play for the Los Angeles Lakers this game as he was ruled out due to back pain.

So, it is fair to say that the Lakers were a bit shorthanded. They had to rely on LeBron James and Russell Westbrook to try and grab that first win of the season.

Fans are not ready to let Russell Westbrook off the hook

Westbrook ended the night with 18 points off the bench, shooting 6-17 from the field, along with 8 rebounds. Though it perhaps isn’t much, the way Westbrook’s last few outings have been, this could be seen as a huge improvement.

James was the leading scorer for the team with 28 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, and 4 steals. However, he was 1-6 from beyond the arc. But a big relief was Troy Brown Jr. who went 4-6 from deep, giving the Lakers some hope for the long-range jumpers.

But despite Westbrook’s improved performance, fans still seem unhappy with the nine-time All-Star. During the first quarter of the game, the Timberwolves were up 21-12 with the ball in the hand of LeBron James

James threw a no-look pass to Russell Westbrook in the paint and he ended up missing an under-the-basket lay-in. And fans just could not believe it. His decision-making in recent games has been scrutinized by fans.

Here are some of the reactions from NBA Twitter:

Fans snapping at each other for protecting Westbrook

Although one fan did try to back up Westbrook missing the shot by saying: “He was fouled bro. His shoe came off from KAT stepping up on his foot. Get yo clicks though.”
