Kareem scored a whopping 38,387 points through a 20 year span in the NBA. The big man averaged 24 points for his career and kept the consistency for the most part. At the moment, LeBron sits 723 points away from Karl Malone who is second on the list. With his run this season, inevitably, he will take that spot. However, can he pass Kareem?
The one parameter it will come down to will be consistency and Kareem rightly pointed out. LeBron will need to keep up a stable form if he is to get that record. With this season almost at its halfway point, James is going well averaging almost 29 points per game. Hence, if the King can keep this up even in the next season, there is a high chance LeBron will further his legacy by becoming the top scorer.
