The Brooklyn Nets became the talk of the town in the NBA when they signed James Harden from Houston. They were already a loaded team with Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant joining last offseason. After that, the Nets formed a super team.

They signed Blake Griffin from the Detroit Pistons. Everyone thought that Blake would be washed up. However, he proved everyone wrong by showing that he is still capable of performing at a high level. Nets also signed LaMarcus Aldridge, who unfortunately had to retire because of a heart scare.

Brooklyn made their intentions very clear with their signings that they want to make the most of their time by being a city of champions. But, the Nets suffered a second round exit at the hands of Giannis and the Bucks. Keeping in mind that Kyrie Irving and James Harden both suffered injuries during the series, KD put up a valiant effort nearly beating the Nets.

Al Horford to the Brooklyn Nets?

The Boston Celtics recently traded Kemba Walker to OKC and brought back Al Horford. Horford averaged 14.2 points and 6.7 rebounds for Oklahoma this season. If the Boston Celtics decide to buy out Horford’s contact in that case, the Brooklyn Nets could make a run for him.

This season it was evident that Brooklyn need a big man who can spread the field. Blake Griffin’s impact was visible as he shot 41% from deep against Milwaukee, and could also score on the inside. Likewise, Al Horford shot 37% from deep which will instantly attract Steve Nash.

Along with his shooting, he is also a great defender. Horford was averaging nearly a block and steal per game for OKC. Nets have all the offensive weapons one could imagine. But, if they acquire Al Horford, it will boost their defense, and give them a big man who suits their style of play.

Horford will prevent KD from being exploited in the interior, as Kevin Durant won’t have to take on the role of center for the Nets and can play his normal position at small forward.

How would this trade affect the league?

Brooklyn will most probably become a true super team, and may even add a few chips to their name to go with it. Horford will add the necessary size the Brooklyn Nets need in their lineup. It will be difficult to sign the 35-year-old from Boston. However, if the Nets can pull it off, they’ll arguable be the best team n the league.

It will be interesting to see how Celtics will approach the Horford trade, and could Brooklyn land the 5 time all star to their roster.
