The Lakers were touted as one of the biggest favorites to win the championship this season. But the Purple and Gold crashed out in the very first round of the playoffs by eventual NBA finalists Phoenix Suns.

While injuries did play a massive role in the same, their roster construction was equally responsible for Lakers’ collapse. With a squad lacking quality shooters, the Lakers’ offense looked woeful with LeBron James and Anthony Davis doing the heavy lifting.

Los Angeles Lakers looking to add Knicks’ Reggie Bullock and Chris Paul this off-season

The Lakers’ had two big problems in the 2020-21 season. Perimeter shooting and a consistent point guard. While Dennis Schroder was touted as the perfect replacement for Rajon Rondo, the German was way too inconsistent.

Suffering from injuries and often settling for inefficient jumpers, Schroder did not seem like the right fit. Another major problem in their roster right now is the lack of three point shooting. Given that LeBron and AD are at their best in the restricted area, floor-spacing becomes key for the Lakers’ success.

To counter their issues, the Purple & Gold are targeting two players Chris Paul and Reggie Bullock. CP3 who just made it to the Finals, surely knows how sparse an opportunity to win a championship is.

While the Suns do have a good side, they surely aren’t the best in the West. If the veteran point guard joins the Lakers, a big three of CP3, AD and Bron will tear apart the West and will surely become the favorites to win. But the Purple and Gold will have to pay a hefty amount if they really want to pin down the 35-year-old.

Their other target Reggie Bullock is coming off a career year with the Knicks. Shooting at 41% from the three-point line, Bullock is the perfect 3 and D player for the Lakers. He will certainly be an improvement over the likes of Wesley Matthews.

While the Knicks will look to keep the 30-year-old and offer him a big payday, the Purple and Gold might go all-in for the 6’6″ forward. The Lakers are being linked to all right players for now. But will they be able to execute their plan and complete the moves?
