Cleveland Cavaliers’ center Andre Drummond is probably the game’s best rebounder. Standing at 6’10, Drummond has established himself as an elite center capable of having a double-double each night.

Earlier, NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski had reported that the Cavaliers won’t be playing Drummond until he is traded. Today, NBA insider Scoop B Robinson reported that the Miami Heat have spoken about a probable deal for the center.

The Heat already have a great center in Bam Adebayo but lack a good backup with Meyers Leonard having had a disappointing season so far. Drummond can be the answer to their massive problems.

The Heat have looked a shadow of themselves this season. After winning the Eastern Conference title last season, they now find themselves at the tenth spot of the Eastern Conference with 11 wins and 16 losses. They will be keen to make some much-needed changes to their roster and solidify their chances to make it through to the playoffs.

Possible trade packages by Miami Heat for Andre Drummond

Although Andre Drummond has a humongous contract right now, he can still be traded because of the duration left on his contract. The 2-time All-star is set to earn a whopping $28,751,775 this year before he becomes an unrestricted free agent in 2021-2022.

This is a great opportunity for the Heat to capitalize on. The Cavs are certainly interested in developing their team around Jarret Allen for the foreseeable future, and trading in for a center like Drummond might be the best move for the Heat.

The Heat might put up a trade package centered around veteran Andre Iguodala and center Meyers Leonard. Both Iguodala and Leonard have struggled a lot this season. The veteran forward is averaging about 4.2 points, while the 7’0 feet center is out for the season with a shoulder injury.

A trade package combining the two will be worth $24,756,098 ($15,000,000 for Iguodala and $9,756,098 for Leonard). If the Heat can add a 2022 second-round pick, it might be enough to convince the Cavs.

Another trade package the Heat can go for is a package centered around Iguodala and Kelly Olynyk. But considering Olynyk’s contribution to the team, this seems unlikely.

In both the packages, the Cavs get two good veterans to support the young core of the team, while the Heat get a top center who is much better offensively than the veterans. Can the Heat pull off this trade?
